The beach at Spectacle Lake, BC.

Found about an hour northwest of Victoria, Spectacle Lake was given its name for its shape, which resembles a pair of glasses (spectacles). The lakes unique location, ease of access and developed facilities make it a favourite stop for families between Victoria and Nanaimo. There are picnic tables close to the parking lot, and an easy 2-kilometre, well-maintained hiking trail circles the lake. Expect to find mature forest and wetlands,
